Foreign Affairs Building

OCTOBER 2018 - APRIL 2021

Location: Belmopan City, Belize

Client: Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Main Project Features: The building is 2 levels, 20,000 Gross Square Footage (GSF) modern and sustainable building facility, which make use of the natural landscape for outdoor amenities to serve the staff and enhance the architectural designs of nearby buildings. The building is constructed to be fully accessible. The structure should withstand hurricane force winds of more than +150 miles per hour and serve as a shelter for staff and foreign diplomatic agents in time of emergency. The building makes provision for the accommodation of all the existing MFA staff as well as for a reasonable future staff growth. Conference facilities are factored into the plan. The inclusion of conference facilities as part of the plan is considered important since Belize serves as a rotational chair of SICA, CARICOM, and the Tuxtla Mechanism, in addition to the hosting of other regional and international meetings, which can easily be held at the proposed building conducing to reduction in costs in this aspect of the Ministry’s work.
