Saca Chispas Welcome Center

2011

Location: San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, Belize

Client: Sustainable Tourism Program, IDB funded

Main Project Features: We were contracted to design a new master plan for the Saca Chispas area in Ambergris Caye in order to transform it into a destination for local and tourism use. The BZ$6 million project included the development of a port terminal to accommodate local and international boat tenders serving San Pedro, along with the rehabilitation of the waterfront marina for local fishermen. The project also included the reclamation of land for an open field, a 1500- foot sea wall and small boating marina for local fishermen. The project now brings a surplus of revenue for San Pedro Town and the rehabilitation of local trades and fishermen. It was successfully completed on time and within budget.
